This historian looked at divorce petitions from slave-owning families in 18th and 19th century North Carolina and revealed an interesting tidbit. A slave owner, Larimore, was aware that his wife was spending time alone at night with one of his slaves, and that they seemed to be intimate. He also found out that she would meet other slaves on neighboring plantations for sex. The real interesting thing is how the wife, Catharine, described one of her late night rendezvous with a slave to a friend as "hunting the Bull."
