Thanks for posting. I pride myself on knowing local Bronzeville history. Never heard of this man. I do know the family who founded the Chicago Bee. Anthony Overton, a prominent Bronzeville banker, and founder of the Bee, was a rival of a cousin of mine, Jesse Binga, another Bronzeville banker. Anthony's daughter, Eva Overton, and Jesse's niece, Geraldyn Hodges Binga, were charter members of the Beta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at the University of Chicago. Our families attended the same church and I know his great granddaughter very well. I'm going to forward this to her, if she doesn't have it, because she collects historical artifacts with respect to Anthony's life and the Chicago Bee and may even have photographs taken by this man that were collected from Anthony's business.
