Does any of that violence have anything to do with the Bayou Classic or is it because NO is a high violent crime city filled with pockets of poverty....

:jbhmm:

All those incidents would've happened regardless if Grambling and SUNO attracted thousands of Black folks from the surrounding areas. Fact of the matter is, their fair city has socioeconomic problems that need to be addressed.

Thing is man I been seeing that shyt on bourbon street before even 9/11. shyt always been like that on bourbon street. I saw an all out brawl happen out there. Jokers were swinging at each other and dude pulled out a gun and folks started running and everyone was getting smashed against the walls because the place was packed.

My cousin who went to Xavier said that the most dangerous time of the year was during Mardi gras. There was a case or two were students who werent from NO who went out to Mardi gras and never returned. Only their bodies would turn up weeks later. My cousin mentioned how they would talk to the students and tell them how dangerous it was and to always watch themselves and travel in groups.

Folks just don't know how dangerous Mardi gras is. And I ain't putting this on folks from NO because people come from all around the world to NO for mardi gras. That is one of the reasons it is so dangerous.

Worked with an older lady before who went to Mardi gras and she said the first time she went to Mardi gras and saw bourbon street she thought to her self that this must be like what the Bible said when talking about hell or the city of Sodom and Gomorrah...:mjlol:
Folks getting kidnapped at Mardi Gras and their cadavers turning up like they're in a third world country?

:dead:

This is there petition

Unfortunately a young man was killed for stepping on someone's shoes. We know the culprits aren't SUNO and Grambling students but this weekend there were multiple shootings, robberies etc. This event brings out a bad bad element from within the city and the white people want it gone like Freaknik. I'm sure some black people agree though.

Story and video of the shooting

Bayou Classic

The Bayou Classic is the annual college football game between the Grambling State University Tigers and the Southern University Jaguars. Since 1990 the game has been held the final Saturday in November (i.e., the Saturday after Thanksgiving) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Bayou Classic is a source of tourism revenue ($50 million) to the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. The stadium attendance averages between 50,000 – 70,000 annually.

I been to the Bayou Classic twice back in the late 90s and was out and about on Bourbon street. Saw a bunch of fights and the only shooting was some fool that shot himself in the foot. The females were just :wow:.
