There should have been a better representation for blacks. I know i'd be towards the front. Does that mean i had white privilege?

If you randomly sample a 1000 black people and a 1000 white what are the chances that more white people would be in front compared to black people. Most people mistakenly assume white privilege describes every single member of the group instead of averages. It's like when someone says Oprah is rich there is no institutional racism or bias. An unsuccessful white person is no more evidence of lack or privilege than a successful black person.

Ah yes the Privilege Walk. I've facilitated one of these. They can be very tense and emotional. People who are in the back start tearing up when they realize how much of a disadvantage they have.

But the dude who ran this one did it without any NUANCE. This shyt seemed targeted af. Then he said, "I guarantee you these black guys in the back could beat any of you if it was fair..." Like I appreciate the notion but damn breh. NUANCE.

When we did it we asked questions that were less obvious in their intent and yet had the same result. Afterwards we did a Q&A and it was pretty powerful. There was one guy in the front of everyone and he was sad but said, "I don't see how I'm a bad person for having XYZ" and we were like nah you're not... that's not the purpose here. The purpose is to ADMIT that you have privilege.

I did a activity like this when I worked at a college. They was asking step forward if you have been to a museum, step forward if your parents attended any college(even community college)step forward if you have left the state.

Funny thing is, I felt guilty cause I was at the front. And I felt like all that stuff was basic. I'm looking at some black people in the back like really it's a fukking museum around the corner. I was almost embarrassed. I don't even know why?

I could tell they kids would never experience more than what their parent had. Even seeing theirself in the back you'd think they'd change? Nope.
