You could throw a loose ball at a Knicks training and somehow a Heat player would get it. We got absolutely outworked this series. One play there were THREE Knicks players around the loose ball and the only guy who gets to the floor was Gabe Vincent. And our collective basketball IQ (including coaching) has to be one of the lowest in the league. Passing up open shots, terrible passes, jogging back on defense, idiotic turnovers, bad spacing and bad ball movement. We're not even in this situation without Brunson who is miles ahead of the rest of the team, but WTF WAS THAT PASS.

Anyway it really looks like we overachieved and that we were in above our heads, even despite winning two games (one of which Buckets didn't even play and we barely escaped. At home). No lead we had ever felt safe. Our best chance was giving the ball to Brunson and hoping for the best. Every basket was a struggle. There's no way we don't have the lowest assist number among the second round teams. Miami is a better TEAM but the amount of mistakes we made is unreal :snoop:

All that being said, when you look at the 8 teams in the second round, we were clearly the odd man out. 5 teams (Lakers, Warriors, Heat, Celtics and Suns) have been to the Finals these pas three years, and the two others (Nuggets and Sixers) both have recent MVPs and have been in deep runs. And then you have the Knicks. So I guess this makes sense. At least we didn't get stomped out at the Garden.

Well, I guess we're gonna have to make some changes because I don't know how this particular group can significantly improve. It's one thing when shots aren't falling, it's another when we can't even secure rebounds, make good passes and create open shots. Let's not even get into getting back on defense. One thing is for sure : Brunson is that guy.

Oh well. Was a nice run and we had some nice moments. Overall good season despite the ending. Can't wait until next year and see what we do.

GO NY GO NY GO :mjcry:

I’m afraid this front office is not savvy enough to make the necessary acquisitions this summer…but will pray I’m wrong.
What gives you that impression?

Every signing and draft pick they’ve made has bought the Knicks to this point

I’m an outsider looking in but it feels like the Knicks have overachieved since the regime change

Kind of glad it ended this way.
We know we got a guy to build around in Brunson.

RJ got more experience (22 years old), he is going to put that work in in the offseason. You can tell that last game is going to bother him. He responded well to the criticism he was getting, and I think the right coaching will improve his game.

Grimes missed the last shot badly and he will probably be working on that in the offseason (get him some reps with Allan Houston).

Randle is what he is, we need players that can take his minutes. Don't think we can trade him and get any real value back. I would rather keep those picks and let the front office do what they have been doing.

Tibs is what he is. He got out coached. Guys had 2 fouls and he left them in the game. He could have put in Hart or Grimes for him, especially when he wasn't shooting well. Leaving Brunson in with 1 minute left was just dumb. The score was close enough to rest him, and avoid the 3rd foul.

Any teams with good players that you think will rebuild after this season that would trade a good player for future assets?

Both thibs or randle have to go imo. thibs does not hold him accountable at all and it just cant happen anymore. inject a new coach/system and put his ass on notice. i would prefer to trade him and let rj get some breathing room to grow but idk how likely it is to get decent value back without taking a big step back.
Thibs - Because he's lost & extremely slow to make any adjustments when things aren't working. Plus he runs guys into the dirt during the season. His style of play is unsustainable

Randle - Because he's the Tin Man with no heart. If he's not engaged on offense then he's useless on the defensive end. He takes off way too many plays on defense & isn't accountable for his shyt play & actions. He's a head case front runner

Thibs gotta go bro. He was thoroughly out coached & made some seriously questionable decisions with the lineup & subs all series. We need to play a faster pace & that's what got us the lead early in the game but we totally went away from that to play struggle iso ball when the defense was already set. With the team we have & with the Heat's current roster this playoffs, we could've won bro & that makes it unacceptable to me. I really believe that another coach could've handled it better

That would be ideal but Jimmy ain’t never leaving Miami
Jimmy and Donovan were the guys I coveted because they’re proven playoff scorers.

There were some Jimmy rumblings of discontent during the season but with another deep run it’s over.

I don’t think someone like KAT is worth a haul.

For who though? The 4 seasons Thibs has been here they've made playoffs twice with entirely different teams. If the motive by the FO is grooming JBryant to take over than Thibs will most likely finish out his deal.

I think the Knicks will have a conservative offseason and most of this group will be back we’ll add shooting and run it back next season.

We fire him when someone of note or the right coach is available. I really believe he's taken us as far as we can go & the elite coaches will continue to expose him
