Definitely Mariah, especially with them power vocals. Bey may come from the dojo of Tina Turner, Diana Ross, and Whitney Houston but MC came from the dojo of Minnie Riperton, Aretha Franklin, and Gladys Knight

This. Beyonce may have chart toppers but they aren't real hits. She hasnt put out anything that folks will still be listening to 10 or even 20 years from now. And you can gauge that on music she put out 10 years ago. Heck, not even that long.

Who's listening to Drunk in Love? Single Ladies is a hit but it's a themed hit which means it may be applicable to a moment in one's life but not something women are going to listen to for the rest of their lives.

I had forgot all about that song she did with Slim Thug till it popped up on my YouTube last week.

Nothing Beyonce has done is memorable whereas the first ten or 15 years of Mariahs career is nothing but actual timeless hits, with mature themes that you can always listen to.

Whitney vs Mariah would make more sense.

Unpopular opinion but Whitney and Mariah aren’t peers. Whitney came out five years before her and she was already seven years older. The heights of their careers might overlap but they aren’t in the same “music generation”. Like you have Whitney making some of her best hits in the 80s and Mariah making some of her best hits in the 2000s. You can’t fairly measure vastly different periods in music. A better comparison would be Mariah/Toni and Whitney/Janet. Mariah and Janet would probably win.
