MM was a better artist, but Phil Collins had a much better catalog of pop hits. PC gets shyt on by a lot of other HoF level musicians because he had a lot of pop simple shyt out there.

I was too young to understand, but my dad hated that dude after he made some kind of "who turned out the lights" comment at an awards show (surrounded by black people I think).

It’s a tie for me. Both had some great songs. Phil wasn’t as soulful but his shyt was so well produced.
