You need to look for paid internships. I'd never do an unpaid one personally. If your school doesn't offer you placements go to a different one or select another program that does.

OP you crazy as a Bessy bug. Only a fool would not do an internship while in school. You are usually paid and it gives you experience all while attending school.

Experience.. you're better off having an unpaid internship than graduating without any sort of experience
Just having a degree won't get you a job unless you have connections
