(1) Let be known that I am coining the word GLOAT, greatest lyricist of all time, into the Rap Music lexicon...I invented that...

(2) Up to today, whenever we discuss the terms lyrics, lyrical, lyricist and etc, we have been using different definitions, and therefore the arguments are always on a tangent, and nobody knows what the hell their talking about because we have no reference point...

(3) So, I will start by stating that for this specific debate, we will begin with DICTIONARY definitions of "lyrical"...That way everybody is on the same age...

(4) Here are the definitions of lyrical
    a. Expressing deep personal emotion or observations: a dancer's lyrical performance; a lyrical passage in his autobiography.
    b. Highly enthusiastic; rhapsodic: gave a lyrical description of her experiences in the South Seas.
  • www.merriam-webster.com - having an artistically beautiful or expressive quality
  • www.oxforddictionaries.com -
    • 1(of literature, art, or music) expressing the writer’s emotions in an imaginative and beautiful way:he gained a devoted following for his lyrical cricket writing
    • (of poetry or a poet) lyric:Wordsworth’s Lyrical Ballads
    • 2 relating to the words of a popular song:the lyrical content of his songs
(5) After reading and understanding the REAL definitions of "lyrical", How can Kool G Rap and everybody else who thinks like him, dare state that 2Pac is NOT top 10 GLOAT of hip hop...?

(6) 2Pac is in the Top 5 GLOAT, hands down, based on the REAL definitions of LYRICAL...If you think any different, then you are just making up your own rules and criteria...

How can we have a legitimate discussion when 7 Billion people are playing by their own rules...?

Are you my friend reading the DICTIONARY DEFINITION of "lyrical"...?

But that's cool...The truth can be interpreted 7 Billion ways...

I just read it, I don't see the problem with who I said.
Unless the correct answers were Ovid, Shakespeare, and Homer :beli:

Are we talking clear and concise messaging or more deep, and metaphoric lyricism? Cause I'd also like to throw in Aesop Rock.

(1) We are talking about the definitions are gave in the OP...

(2) When you start introducing stuff like "Are we talking clear and concise messaging or more deep, and metaphoric lyricism?" then you start muddling the argument...Because it opens the doors for statements like "currently Chief Keef is a bettter lyricist than Nas and etc"

When you stick to the DICTIONARY definition, then it's harder to make statements like "Gucci mane is better than Kool G Rap and etc"...

Are the dictionary definitions I provided to difficult to understand and apply...?

And people, we talking Rap Music...

Ovid, Shakespeare and them other dudes I don't even know or care to know, unless they spit over beats, are IRRELEVANT in this argument..

I have heard of him, and I have heard a few cuts, but what I heard by him did not make me ever want to care about his music...

But since you brought him up, I will try to listen again...Only after I forget about this thread, because if I listen to him now, I will be very biassed and resistive...But I will check him out in the future...

You already seem biased and resistive. But w/e. I've given my opinion. The definitions seems kind of broad but :yeshrug:

  • 1(of literature, art, or music) expressing the writer’s emotions in an imaginative and beautiful way:he gained a devoted following for his lyrical cricket writing

I'll add Roc Marciano too for stuff like:
"Just as I predicted, reality is prescripted"
"Never mind the lesser kind, do not cast pearls before swine"

www.thefreeonlinedictionary.com -
a. Expressing deep personal emotion

Here's some Camu Tao. This track always gets me.
