Red Bull Big Tune - First Avenue
It was held on the red bull youtube channel from '08 to '10 at different city hubs (in the middle of the worst years of hip hop with those laffy taffy and crank that shyts going around when the entire music industry was nuked by pirating and free mixtapes before spotify and streaming monetization came along) and gained a few fans on the internet but had they done a syndicated deal with MTV or BET, that shyt would have blown up and attracted more talent to continue
if you search for big tune on the red bull channel, there's more footage and beats, and there are also random video recordings from fans of those battles...obviously, some of those beats are fire and have crowd noise over it so you can't isolate the beat unless you contact the producer for the rights to those beats if they are not already posted on youtube in HQ.

NGL, some of the beats were hot garbage and it didn't help that the people listening to the beats had no taste whatsoever to be judging by whoever's entourage can yell the loudest for a contestant to proceed to the next round -- that shyt can be rigged by just buying crowd noise and need to be recalibrated with actual judges who have proper taste like real producers who have industry experience. I still feel like timbaland's class is skewed towards his taste for whoever he thinks can ghost-produce for him so we need more judges who are beat makers themselves
it had really strong potential because your boy Nas got that beat from C-Sick and I think 14KT did a song with roc marciano and some other NY rappers got exclusive beats from the red bull winners and runner ups, which was automatic clout for more fire songs to be made, which in turn inspired some of the OG producers like alchemist, 9th wonder, and mannie fresh to make fire beats back in 2011
That red bull contest was the catalyst for the cambrian explosion of fire ass beats that gave way to cloud rap beats, lex luger, drumma boy, and the domination of Lil B for how long he was making mixtapes off red bull beat participants.
That shyt needs to be reorganized and come back given that more than 10 years has past since the last time they were held and there are probably hidden talent out there that need a platform boost to gain traction just to connect them to the right artists because middlemen promoters are sheisty and barely have any connects themselves...red bull held their hot wheels IRL challenge, that space jump, etc but this red bull challenge needs to be rebooted with a netflix deal at least given that a lot of people are bored at home looking for things to watch and people are sitting on beats for decades, not to mention our own beat battle section on the coli The Tunnel
big tigger came back to rap city and big tune also needs to come back to match the right beats and inspire the right artists given that we are kinda in a rut after music money and movements slowed down from rona and all that
