This is not about who you think WILL be the #1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. But rather who you think SHOULD be the #1 pick. You can either go with the best player available theory or the team needs theory. I don't care. Just make sure to support your choice with some reasoning.
IMO there are only 3 players this year worth taking #1 overall in the NFL Draft: (1) Saquon Barkley, (2) Lamar Jackson, and (3) Josh Allen.
As much as I love Saquon Barkley, you can't take a RB #1 overall when there are 2 elite franchise caliber QBs available. And IMO Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are elite franchise caliber NFL QBs. Its close between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen for me. I believe Lamar Jackson will be the bigger difference-maker early on. His athleticism will be too much for the NFL next year. Josh Allen needs a little more time to develop but I believe he has the higher ceiling long term.
If the Cleveland Browns are smart, they'll take Josh Allen with the #1 overall pick this year. He's a true franchise QB with an extremely high ceiling. His skill set as a passer is similar to Dan Marino. However, unlike Marino, Allen is a top notch athlete with great mobility.
Just look at this throw:
Cleveland cannot pass on a talent like Josh Allen. He should be the #1 pick in the NFL Draft.
