In less than a year's time, he dropped Come Home With Me and Diplomatic Immunity. That stretch was his best run, even though he was dope way before that. He had a movement going crazy at the time. Problem was, the movement for how impactful it was, wasn't translating into sales. The Dipset album only sold like 250,000 units. But because it was a double, that made it a gold album. So the so-called "fans" who swear they loved the group were all bootlegging the sh*t and not paying for the actual album. You couldn't escape the music at the time, but no one was dropping bread for it.
Jay had a couple albums in that span too, but his sh*t was flying off the shelves. Dude sold like 7 million records in a little over a year's time between just two projects. And what's wild, is that this is also when his influence and peak spot in stature started coming to an end. After TBA, the audience changed and got younger and his stretch of running the game was never the same again.
