They were about even, with maybe Akon getting the edge until around late '07/early '08. From '08 forward, it was T-Pain.

T-Pain ran 2007 and 2008 to me, Akon was on some mainstream shyt but T-Pain was featured on all the big street bangers

I remember T-Pain having bigger hits in the hood. Perhaps overall, Akon was the bigger name tho. Akon definitely had the most timeless hit outta the both of them to me with Locked Up.

Yeah, but Kon had his share of big street bangers too. To me, "I'm So Hood" is when T-Pain really stepped out in front where Akon was stepping too far mainstream.
