that thread about the PS3 sales got me thinking about the now defunct HD DVD. what a catastrophe. that war was lost because of two things IMO.

  1. Sony including blu ray in all the PS3's
  2. M$ refusing to put the HD DVD in the 360's

these two things singlehandedly ruined it. back then the 360 had more consoles sold, and they should have made the HD DVD as an add on for the existing consoles and shipped the new ones with it. cuz back then, hardly anyone was copping standalone blu ray or hd dvd players. the PS3 is the main thing that introduced the blu ray to the mainstream. but naaaawwww, they got cocky and wanted to rock with that antiquated DVD bullshyt. talkin bout 10 layer DVD's and what not :laff:

lot of cats in TRR took L's when HD DVD was on its way out copping all those disc and players cuz they were cheap. that is NOT a win.

why not pull out the old betamax as well :camby:

Still have my HD-DVD addon, laugh at it everytime I see it. I didn't choose sides in that war as I was rocking dual console like usual, but man that shyt failed quick. I really didn't care because it allowed all them HD-DVDs to drop to ridiculous prices, like $5 and shyt :win:

I remember it.

I almost buy it but I didn't. It should have built into the 360 in the first place...they f*cked up for not giving it time to be a built in feature, otherwise this would still be a close race against Blu-Ray.

yup. should have shipped with the console. also that add-on didn't even play games, so that was kinda dumb too :snoop:

I had bought a HD-DVD player. I couldn't tell a difference in the quality between this and Blu-Ray. They were both High Diefinition so it was cool. Just didn't last long.

The quality was just as good. The one thing I did like about it was the live menu systems and some of the shyt they were able to add on to certain films (like FNF with creating/editing cars and shyt) :pachaha:
