Personally I doubt the protests of this nature are effective. (If you're gonna block streets, you either need to have something very specifically connected to that particular street, or straight-up insane numbers). But killing random people just because you feel inconvenienced is insane.
FYI, the video is from Brazil in 2017. The protesters are anti-austerity protesters, protesting against a center-right president's move to ease labor laws and raise the pension age. The protests pretty much failed due to lack of participation.

Two girls aged 19 and 25 were seriously injured but no one died. The 44yo driver was alone in the car, he claimed he was in a hurry to see his grandmother in the hospital but that sounds like bullshyt. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

the car pulls up at like :09 seconds in, drives past the other two parked cars like 2-car lengths away, then proceeds to drive directly into the people. he crushed one of them before anyone even got near the door.
