Scottie Pippen:
the #2 behind the GOAT. Major contributor in the Bulls' Dynasty of the 90s. 6x champ, 7x All-Star, USA Male Basketall Player of the Year (1996), Steals leader (1995), 7 All-NBA teams (including 3 All-NBA First Teams)

Kevin McHale:
the #2 behind Bird. Major contributor to the 80s Celtics' Dynasty. 3x champ, 7x All-Star, 2x 6th Man of the Year, 6 All-Defensive Teams (including 3 All-Defensive First Teams).

Who was the better #2?

I would say Pippen. That Celtics roster was loaded to the teeth you had Dennis Johnson who was an all star himself, Danny Ainge, and Robert Parrish who was also a top 5-10 big man in the NBA at the time. Bulls was Scottie, MJ, later on Rodman, a washed up Harper and a bunch of role players who did their roles to perfection. I picked Pippen because he had more pressure to carry the load since he was the only other star behind MJ.

This is close but im going with pippen. While kevin is the superior offensive player pippens defense and running the offense gives a slight edge over him. Also like the poster pointed out earlier if McHale had an off game you had the chief who was more than capable of giving you 20 and 10. Also Dennis Johnson could do the same if needed.

Scottie Pippin wouldn't consider himself to be a sidekick even though he was in the shadows of Michael Jordan. He was driven to be his own superstar. But yeah, Scottie Pippin was a better sidekick.
You can't put MJ in the shadows even if you give it 100%. :mjlol:

lets act like pip couldn't guard everybody on the floor. he could guard anyone in his prime.....I'd take pip even tho y'all right, he never took that sidekick robin-to-batman role.

i'm a lil biased b/c i never saw mchale play but pip complemented jordan VERY well.
