Who Was the Better Sidekick: Pippen or McHale?

This is actually a good question/hard decision.

I will say this much though... if I had to choose one to start my team with, I'm going with Kevin McHale every time.

And a sidenote, that Celtics team was more talented than the Bulls team top to bottom, yes, so he had that advantage, but they also played/beat tougher teams (Pistons, Lakers, 76ers) during their run than the Bulls were beating during that 90s era.


Main note though... my Blackness ultimately dictated I vote Pippen.

McHale was a great defender actually.

my question is how many players can go head-to-head against hakeem Olajuwon?

Hakeem was young but he led everybody in total points that year in the playoffs that year and was 2nd in PPG and thats only because MJ had the outbreak in game 2 vs the Celtics.

I would say Pippen. That Celtics roster was loaded to the teeth you had Dennis Johnson who was an all star himself, Danny Ainge, and Robert Parrish who was also a top 5-10 big man in the NBA at the time. Bulls was Scottie, MJ, later on Rodman, a washed up Harper and a bunch of role players who did their roles to perfection. I picked Pippen because he had more pressure to carry the load since he was the only other star behind MJ.

you didn't really answer the question. McHale still averaged more points even tho he was on a more "stacked" team

its better to compare players how good they are then to reward them by winning with less talent around them. The Bulls were less stacked but they had the best player to ever played the game. Lets not act like the Celtics didnt face tougher teams

The NBA just doesn't have players like Kevin McHale today, which is kind of sad. The large array of moves he had in the post, in addition to being able to consistently get position on his man was unfair. He was immaculate in tight spaces with a touch around the basket that is just not seen in the NBA today. If anything, I've seen Pau Gasol make a few moves in the post reminiscent of McHale, which is always a treat. In any case, I choose Pippen.

just because he didnt lead his team to a chip every year as the 1 option doesnt mean he's a sidekick. lebron wasn't winning shyt in cle as the 1option, does that mean he was a Robin too?

Lebron led his team to 5 championships, winning 2 so he can't be a Robin, he NEVER played Robin. Like I said, don't bring in other players, let's focus on Wade. Now answer the previous question without brining in Lebron. Is Wade more of a Batman or Robin? I can prove he's a Robin, can you prove he's a Batman?

Z-Bo puts me in the mind of Kevin at times. I'm choosing Pip too, even though I liked Kevin better.
