:salute: to @Silkk and @Ed MOTHERfukkING G for the discussion in the Punk trailblazing thread

In no particular order:

1. Teddy Hart - The definition of a spoiled brat who relied on his family name to excuse his shytty behavior and antics. He would be M-Dogg 20 status had it not been for his Hart connection. He couldn't work and relied on flippy shyt, every single match. He couldn't sell and his high spots had no rhyme or reason. Even Jeff Hardy's ladder and cage high spots made sense as he showed that he was willing to do whatever it took to win the gold, even if it meant putting his body on the line. There is no excuse for the stunts (literally) Teddy pulled at the ROH Scramble Cage post-match in 2003, which led to being blackballed from the company for 6 years:

(Skip to the 2:45 minute mark)

Teddy Hart got heat for two reasons:

1) The main reason, his dive off the cage wasn't planned, Jack Evans' spot was. Teddy felt like it was more important to get himself over with the crowd than to properly protect the people he was working with. He could have seriously injured someone doing that, and it's the reason he was physically tossed out of the building by the Carnage Crew instead of just "having heat."

2) His no selling, specifically doing a random backflip off the top rope after the match like nothing had happened. He said it was a tribute to Owen Hart, missing the fact that Owen would do it before the goddamn match, not after a hard fought battle he should be selling.

Question about the Teddy Hart incident. - Pro Wrestling: Other Federations Message Board - GameFAQs

The IWC was on his nuts BIG time, he was supposed to have "next". He never was able to break through.

2. Low Ki - Yes, he was one of the early key wrestlers for the indie boom of the early 2000s, along with Reckless Youth and Ric Blade. I respect that and point to him as one of the reasons I was drawn to the indies in the first place. He applied hard strikes and kicks and adopted Japanese moves to his arsenal. It was something different in America at the time and, of course, he gained a cult following. As time went on, he never improved. He lacked in psychology and selling, never switching up his style. He believed he was top-tier and refused to job. He was known for throwing bytch fits:

People never really talk about it because they are intimidated by him for whatever reason.

JAPW and CZW had huge heat at the time, but CZW had shown interest in Ki, the Haas Brothers, and The Hit Squad, so they started using them all. As dumb as it sounds, it lead to one of the bigger dream matches in NJ indy rasslin at the time: Ki vs Ric Blade. They did like three matches total together: January 2000 in CZW, one for New Millennium Wrestling in early February 2000, and then one like a week later for CZW that was a ladder match between Ki, Blade and Mercury. Blade got hurt during the match (Low Ki had nothing to do with it either, Blade fukked himself up coming off a basketball hoop and putting Mercury through a table while Ki was selling *he actually did that back then* near the ring and couldn’t see what happened) and couldn’t do everything that was planned. Ki, being Ki, has always had to get his shyt in. So the dude just starts flipping out in front of the crowd because he thinks it’s some kind of screw job/set up, with CZW trying to fukk him over for being a JAPW guy or whatever. Everyone is standing around wondering what to do because he won’t calm down. So security dude just decides “fukk it” and scoops Ki up in his arms, mid-tantrum, as if he were a child throwing a hissy fit and carries him to the back. The Hit Squad tried to intervene too, and got in a shoving match with security. Neither Ki or the Hit Squad were brought back.

For whatever reason CZW edited it off the video they sold and that picture is the only image from a forgotten moment in indy rasslin’ lore.

Low Ki, high blood pressure

It was real to him. He relied on his "strong style" and "angry face" to express his character, which he became as he believed his own hype. I was rooting for him on the original NXT and was initally pissed he left WWE, but I realized just how one-dimensional this guy truly is.

3. Super Dragon - See Low Ki. Strong kicks, punches, and chops. Zero psychology. Wouldn't sell for jack. But it was all good because he wore a cool-looking mask and his style was soo "puro". The fans loved the guy. shyt, I loved the guy. But like the other two mentioned, you saw one SD match, you've seen them all. He was just a weeaboo that thought he was the shyt. In the end, he let drugs fukk up his career:

sadsad sad story

Ok, here's the real story. I wasn't supposed to say anything, but fukk it. A few weeks before the show he got "hurt" on, Dragon had to deal with some serious family issues. He started to get depressed over those issues and then turned to cocaine to help him get through these problems. A week later he got hooked badly. He ended up getting fired from his job at a very huge car dealership(Yeah, Super Dragon sold cars for a living) after not showing up after a few weeks. Before that he was having some problems with his bosses because of his bad attitude toward customers who only wanted to test drive cars in order to get free tickets to a NASCAR event. Anyways, after he got fired and started the family issues came up, the PWG owners knew something was wrong. Two of them(forgot who) went to Dragon's apartment and found him getting jumped by some dealers and saved him. They took him to one of their homes so Dragon could recover. During this, Dragon stole their computer and sold it and bought more coke and almost OD'd. They decided that itwas time for him to go to rehab.

The entire angle came together with Joey Ryan, Scott Lost, Chris Bosh, and Scorpio Sky to "take him out" by beating him up. At the same time it was a way to try and bring him back down to reality before they sent him to rehab. He's now in a rehab facility in Sylmar, California and he'll come back towrestling if he can stay sober for 60 days.

Get sober soon super dragon

He received a huge ovation a few years ago when he returned to PWG, but the guy is out of shape and worse in the ring than ever.

Who does #TSC think are the most overrated indie wrestlers of all time?

My list is
  1. Samoa Joe, and it continues to this day. He gets more REGULAR as he gets closer to the big time. He was just a guy who worked strong and was relatively fast for his size but really can you say he was on the level of even bray Wyatt or bam bam when it comes to the same traits? I am told of these great matches with punk and Danielson and hero but guess what...THEY WERE WITH CM PUNK AND BRYAN DANIELSON AND OTHER AMAZING WORKERS. In TNA history did he even have the impact of beer money or bully ray or hardy? Taz was 10x better than samoa Joe his prime.
  2. Low ki for everything you said and I will add that he just doesn't connect with crowds...period...and doesn't give a fukk to do so.
  3. Idk if you include mexico as indies, but mistico got so fukkin exposed when he came to america...Del Rio is way better, and he isn't even the best sin Cara state side.
  4. Silkk subsequently mentioned him, but colt cabana despite what punk wanted us to think.
  5. Idk if this belongs here but okada and tanahashi, have always been more entertaining to me than Kenta (in noah) and nakamura...none of the four are REALLY overrated tho. Just wanted to mention that.

Tedy Hart just was arrogant and had some demons, still I think he's a great wrestler. With better guidance, he could've been in the Dolph Ziggler spot.

I'd like to add Takeshi Morishima to the list. Never understood why he was so "hot" in ROH. To me, he was a fat fukk who could wrestle strong style, but there are 100's of wrestlers who could do that AND had more charisma.

Oh, and Colt Cabana, as mentioned above.
