Michael Jackson's music, image, inspiration and legacy transcended all races, ages, nationalities, genders,

etc. Who would you say has done that in the Hip Hop community? I know a lot of you are going to say 2Pac

or Biggie, but older people weren't fukking with them like that. I would argue that hip hop has become as

popular as a genre as Michael Jackson was an entertainer, but who stands out as the real game changer

who has inspired the masses as well as all the other rappers to come after him/her?

Tupac or Kanye
I could maybe see Kanye. A lot of people enjoy his music and think of him as a genius. With 2Pac though, like I said in my OP, at the time older people weren't into him. They didn't understand him, and hip

hop wasn't the mammoth it is now in terms of popularity, so I don't know if he could have had the same impact as MJ because he didn't have the same platform that MJ did with making pop music.

This rests on the assumption that both genres affect people in the same way.

I'm not sure I buy into that assumption to begin with.

If I were to accept it as true though, I'd have to pick Tupac.

I think I would have to go with P Diddy. Hear me out. P Diddy was really the first of his kind. A rapper turned mogul. Someone who ventured outside of the typical path for a rapper and turned himself into a

brand. He sort of paved the way for all the rappers after him, and changed the way we, as a culture, thought of hip hop in terms of how it could be marketed to the masses. For better or worse, a lot of

rappers after him molded their careers after his. Even Jay Z started a clothing line after P Diddy did. P Diddy, in my opinion, really changed the game forever.

this is dumb

michael is an overrated and overmarketed pop pedo. only reason his fame was so worldly.

nobody in rap markets their image in the same manner to attain that level of fame.

if anything you should be comparing people like adele and what not. with an accessible "wholesome" pop image.
