Whoa whoa are yall really shytting on 2001

looking thru that still dre thread and are people saying the beats on 2001 are meh

2001 has the best instrumentals of any rap album and its not even close. every beat is fire. tbh i wish he woulda finished the half a beat on bar one and turned it into a song.

the chronic is a better album, but in terms of straight instrumentals 2001 is in another galaxy from 99% of rap albums.

I really do think it's overrated. It ain't terrible, but I never listen to it anymore where as I still bump the Chronic at least a few times a year.

I remember being hyped too after hearing "Still D.R.E." and thinking he was really gonna return with that Chronic/Doggystyle sound that I played all the way out between 92 and 95 but then the album dropped and I was yawning by the halfway point

i can understand if u dont like the album content wise, its repetitive as fukk (we dont love them hoes, smoke weed, get money)

but those beats dre was on some other shyt. some of the synths and melodies he used are still jocked to this day.

if i was a producer i would listen to 2001, diplomatic immunity, late registration or the bake sale if i needed inspiration

i grew up on the OG chronic album, so yes


but when it comes time to for me to choose which one i'd rather go back and listen to, i always pick 2001

just because 2001 might not be to the level of chronic does not mean it isnt classic. those beats

then again they might not sound the same through headphones or your dell laptop

at anyone who really thinks that the beats on 2001 are wack. same cats probably think Young Chop is the epitome of beat making and said the same about Lex Luger a few months ago til he fell out of the lime light

ill put it this way. i heard chronic years before 2001 but neither when they dropped.

chronic is the album that got me into rap when i was a lil nikka so im not hating on it. im just saying, right now, after hearing both countless times i'd play 2001 over chronic.
