Sony announced that this thing was releasing this year for 99 bucks... I haven't seen much talk about it on here, so I'll make the thread on it because I think this thing could be a viable option for plenty of gamers in here.

Pics:

Specs:
- Price = 99$
- compatible with Dualshock 3 & 4 controllers
- HDMI, Ethernet, USB ports (along with Sony's Vita memory cards )
- Bluetooth 2.1 support
- WiFi 802.11n
- 1GB RAM
- video outputs 720p or 1080i
- Quad-Core processor (similar to PS Vita)

Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America said at E3: "This little gem will be able to pair with your PlayStation 4, allowing you to play your PS4 game, via Remote Play, on a second television in your home."

"It will give you access to video and music streaming services. It will give you the ability to play hundreds of PS3 titles, made available through PlayStation Now. And, of course, PlayStation TV will also play most Vita titles as well as PS1 and PSV classics." he added.

So, this little box does a number of things including the ability to play your PS4 through a different TV in the house and play older PlayStation games via the PlayStation Now streaming service. It will also rival devices and services such as Netflix, Apple TV, Roku and Google's Chromecast since it will add the ability to stream music, films and TV shows.

Only negative I see about this thing so far is it only outputting 1080i, but I don't think that's a deal breaker for all of the other features that it has and the price point is lovely IMO.

If you game and are in the market for a streaming box, why wouldn't you get this over a Roku or AppleTV? I really want to see how seamless it is while using it with a PS4 though. Also... If we go by the list of apps that Sony currently has on PS3/PS4/Vita I think it should be pretty competitive with the other boxes out there unless there are some exclusive deals out there that we don't know about.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm quite considering this. Doesn't this also potentially allow you to play these games/content/etc. on other devices like tablets and laptops/pcs as well or am I mistaking that with just the PSNow feature set? At any rate, for only 99 bucks, I'm very much thinking about it, as that ain't shyt for what it does and some vita games I'd love to play on the big screen as well and this would be quite viable for that. I'm curious to how it'll look displaying those games on screen though. And being able to play the quad in the bedroom wouldn't be bad either. I also wish to know if you were to buy multiple playstation tvs, would they all be able to access your content simultaneously or can only 1 be connected to your systems/psn username content at a time, if even at all?

My guess would be you could use multiple PSTVs at once, but I don't think you'll be able to use remote play simultaneously.

And the PSNow is the service that you'll be able to use on TVs, tablets, phones etc...

Idk.. I'd like to have one but I don't see a reason for having one.
Well, if consume all of your entertainment/games in 1 room then yeah there's no reason for you to get one.

This is basically a vita home console.

I already have a vita
:snoop:

You know, I made an elaborate post/thread explaining the reasons why this is an intriguing piece of hardware, and this is what you muster up? Really?

Did you miss the part where it says it can be used as a 2nd PS4 on a 2nd TV in your house? So you know... people with houses with more than 1 TV can basically buy this and run their PS4 games in another room.

Yeah, and it's just as odd that vita owners would say something like that when they can also play the vita games they already own on their big screens as well. My only cause of concern with that is if the pic quality won't be up to snuff. But knowing Sony, it liable to be quite good.
