It used to be Hype Williams...but that's if he has a big budget...he can't do shyt when has a tight budget...

But I'll give that title to either Dave Meyers, or Spike Jonez...

If you've seen Dave Meyers videos..especially the Missy Elliott videos he did...dude did REALLY did a good job going into the mind of Missy on what she wanted to show on screen...

Spike Jonez is one of the G.O.A.T because he would just be doing the most simplest things and it would leave me like :ohhh:

Honorable mention should also go to Little X too..

I would say Hype Williams but he's put out some really iffy stuff lately. I dont know why, maybe its due to budget and the fact nobody is really spending money on videos these days, but whenever he uses the green screen I know he's done. Give that man a budget tho and he's gonna have fireworks and helicopters all over that shyt.

With that said, he's still my inspiration to become a music video director.

What I like about spike jonez is that he was doing guerilla style shooting..I dont think he was getting city permits to shoot that stuff, and he'd have the funniest videos.

Diane Martel and Chris Robinson should be mentioned, too.

Hype Williams.

Whoever produced this video though has my vote for the #2 spot...

late 90s early 2000s were the golden age of hip hop videos. so the nod kinda has to go to a video director from that era. i think paul hunter probably edges out hype williams

I would say Hype just because he changed the way a generation approached music videos. nikkas were out here tryna make epic mini-movies. His influence can still be seen nowadays. Little X is also one of my favorites too.
