This thread was inspired by David Alan Greer from The Carmichael Show and go me thinking who was the most iconic Black Father for a sitcom :jbhmm:

SPOILER WARNING: If you haven't seen any of these classic sitcoms in their entirety then you might wanna leave.....

Fred G. Sanford (Sanford & Son)

latest

Pros: Don’t take no shyt off whitey, Gives great wisdom to his son, got more jokes than a lil bit, smooth talker

Cons: This nikka was a thief, very irritable and stubborn, prejudice as hell, kinda dusty

James Evans Sr. (Good Times)

Pros: Hard Working, Kept his kids in check, didn’t trust The Government/”The Man”

Cons: They killed my nikka off man :mjcry:

Pros: Very Successful Lawyer & Judge. My nikka got a mean hook for your ass if you mention his moms, quick to check whitey, a real father to Will

Cons: Low-key forgot where he came from, bougie, got some spoiled ass kids

Carl Winslow (Family Matters)

Pros: Provided a stable household and even gave his bum as sister-n-law and her seed a place to stay. Quick to check racism. An upstanding pillar of black excellence in the police force

Cons: My nikka lost one of his daughters and never found her :wtf: , constantly let Urkel troll him :troll:

John ‘Pops’ Williams (The Wayans Bros.)

latest

Pros: Runs successful restaurant, semi-successful singing career, won’t hesitate to break out the white belt

Cons: Goofy, Tacky as shyt!, cheap as hell too

Michael Kyle (My Wife & Kids)

Pros: Taught his kids valuable lessons, very witty and comical, supportive of wife

Cons: Lets his son’s father-n-law punk him out, this nikka actually used botox :gucci:, always getting sonned by Franklin, oldest son dumb as a rock, Traded in his dark skin daughter for a light skin one :mjpls:

Joe Carmichael (The Carmichael Show)

NUP_167178_0080.jpg

Pros: Outspoken, Keeps up with the times, very open-minded, hilarious

Cons: Trump Supporter, Had A Secret Son, Raised 2 bytch-Ass nikkas that he calls sons

Now I know there's alot of other popular black father I could of listed like George Jefferson (The Jeffersons), Darryl Hughley (The Hughleys), Frank Mitchell (Moesha) , Julius (Everybody Hates Chris) or Robert Peterson (Parent Hood) but these were the ones that immediately stood out to me. :hubie: If you feel there's a better candidate then by all means state your case, or if you want add info about some of the candidates I missed.

uncle phil never forgot where he came from, that was made clear in multiple episodes. but for me it's uncle phil. i love that dude, i was real life :to: when he passed :wow:

:childplease: you acting like he didn't act brand new when he had that journalist do that piece on him and then got embarrassed when Will told him that Uncle Phil use to be pig farmer. Had his Moms and Pops sick at him over that....

Phil, easily.

He's the definition of black excellence:

Is a powerful judge.
Never forgot his roots
Works the system
Calls Will and everyone else out on their bullshyt constantly
His kids, while spoiled, are successful AF.

Is a hustler (Billiards episode) :banderas:

the fukking pool episode! i havent seen that in a minute. when he pulled out his own cue....

Uncle Phil was that dude. :wow:

I would've went with Cliff or James Sr., but they were before my time and I didn't get to see them in their entirety like I did Phil.
