Why are AppleTv shows so terrible?

In my mind, Apple TV is 2nd to HBO. They’ve got Slow Horses and Silo.

They’re not. In fact, they’re probably the streaming platform with the best quality control currently

Most of their shows are at least a 7 - or a 6 if you’re one of those obnoxious wanna be telephiles - and they have some real highs/hits like Slow Horses here and there

I see AppleTV as the only thing competing with HBO in terms of consistently high production value and quality content. Some misses here and there, of course, but they put out a lot of good stuff from many genres. Not a lot of great kids stuff tho, I will admit

Apple TV is better than most streaming apps. They actually make shows HBO used to make before the Warner buyout.

They have some run of the mil and formulaic shyt on there most definitely but they consistently put out heat too.

I don't think Appletv shows are terrible, but I kind of get what's he's saying. They are very high quality but maybe feel a bit...I dunno...bougie? sterile? We forget HBO had The Chris Rock Show, Entourage, Spawn, How to Make it in America, Treme, even weird shyt like Flight of the Conchords (still underrated to this day), fukking OZ.

Could you see Appletv making something like "America Undercover: Pimps Up, Hoes Down"? Hell nah

Appletv is like eating at your white coworker's house for dinner. The food is very good with immaculately sourced ingredients (Severance) but it don't hit quite the same as Big Mama's cooking (The Wire). Just lacking a lil extra spice

They put out too much content for the casuals but when their prestige shows are fire:

Severance
For all mankind
Pachinko
Slow horses
The Studio
Shrinking
Presumed Innocent
Black Bird

I even enjoyed some of their cornier shows like:
Bad Monkey
Platonic
Swagger

I don't think their shows are terrible, but they are WILDLY forgettable outside of some of their big hits like Severance, but regardless of that I like the AppleTV platform--the bit rate it streams at is way higher than Netflix, Amazon, HBO, etc.
