The comfort in having a friendship with the creator of everything (lol)
The idea that they will live after death in eternal happiness
They may feel that their deity has something greater in store for them, so their problems don't seem as detrimental

I don't see your point. I know a lot of devout christians. I grew up in that community. shyt, I'm the only non-believer in my family.
They ain't happier than other folks. When they get out of the church or out of prayer, reality hits them just like it does everyone else.
