:francis: that's the simplest answer, we're not even going to get into education let's keep it strictly on the court .The Private/Catholic schools are sponsored and they received tons of sneakers and gear, some of the top schools actually receive their own personal colorways, out here in NYC Christ the King has their own colorway for all Nikes that they wear. The private school usually has a team bus to away games, most public school teams the players travel to away games by bus and Subway and even if the team is sponsored they usually aren't given nearly the same amount of gear that the Private school kids get.

so basically if you black and can hoop, you can get financial aid or a scholarship. Or are most parents coming out of pocket?

Not listing every player but I looked up plenty and a lot of them come from private schools. What are they doing to get basketball players in top colleges and the draft compared to public schools.
Public schools are stuck with whoever is living in a specific boundary. Since it is publicly funded, public schools don't make it easy for kids to come from out of the area and use those resources.

The Christian schools are more like junior colleges. They can recruit and bring in kids from all over the town and even all over the world and usually have alumni who will house or sponsor the top athletes.

It's always been this way so really not sure why this comes off as some sort of surprise?

They actively recruit those players and have a lot of luxuries. Hell they typically do not have to necessarily follow the public school system outside of a minimum days attended policy. I wasn't even an athlete and was spoiled as fukk growing up as a result.
