Just a thought.

Yes, it's true.

ig·no·rant
/ˈiɡnərənt/
Learn to pronounce

adjective
  1. lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated
Yes, all egos aside, if we went by the definition, all humans by nature are ignorant about something. Almost all of what we know, we have learned from somewhere or someone else one way or another. What makes the huge distinction is how someone goes about managing it. Some people choose to learn and research what they're ignorant about where as others don't bother and would rather be prideful on not knowing something.

So why do we misuse the word ignorant to describe someone not knowing something when it's apart of being human? Discuss

Ignorance doesn't have to be a part of being human, but it is unfortunately IMO most people lack understanding, empathy and are quick to respond without fully comprehending the situation. Social Media exposed that a lot imo.

Yep, it has. Another thing that has been ruined is confidence. A lot of people don't know what that shyt is and they're copy the wrong person who they think is confident. Folks are ignorant about a lot but got too much pride and ego to learn.

:heh: I told my husband he sounded ignorant because he said manatees kill people and was arguing with me (I have a marine biology degree and I specifically worked with manatees for a few years) . You would’ve thought I called him a bytch or something based off his response.

Sadly this is all of America right now. He choose to believe his wrong information instead of an expert on the subject.

If he got schooled and chooses to stand on his ignorance knowing that he corrected with the right information that he was wrong then that's WILLFUL IGNORANCE which is completely different from ignorant. Willful ignorance has more to do with insecurity, egos and other issues.

My thing is when people use ignorant on someone. It's used as an insult or a substitute for the word dumb or stupid. It shouldn't be if we break down the word because it applies to anyone that doesn't know about something and nobody on earth is a know it all. Not even geniuses are know it alls. Genius and retardation are more about brain functionality and neuroscience.

-You're not misusing the word to describe someone not knowing something. People just get mad cause they think it means stupid.
-Just tell them stop being Ignint & read a dictionary.
