I had this stupid argument with a co-worker of mine earlier today about our wage.

For starters I'm not overly excited about my job. I like the people there but the job itself pays peanuts @ $9 an hour and $13 during overtime.

The argument started over him asking me if i wanted to go home and I said yeah "We make peanuts...I'm not geeking over this"

He tried to tell me about our check this week since we've been working overtime this week and I was like :camby:

The argument spiraled out from there to a whole lot of stupidity.

Even with that shyt my check was barely $400....shyt is garbage

All my siblings are fairly successful. My oldest sister has a masters in accounting, my second sister has her masters in business (not sure the specific field) but makes close to 6 figures, and my youngest sister graduated college at 20, makes 70K @ 26 now and wants to get her masters and make even more money.

So why the fukk am I gonna be happy with a measly $9 an hour? :mindblown:

Hell I have homies slangin weed making more than me weekly and they don't have to punch clocks.

There's nikkas twice my age at my job making the same amount of money as me

The thing that killed me is the fact the nikka who said this to me is only 25 but seems satisfied with this mediocrity. I don't understand it.

I am working at a place making about the same money as op. I am 31 years old and have been on the way back from completely fukking up my entire life. It is really hard to see other people being so successful and knowing that I should be where they are or truthfully higher. I personally have squandered my gifts in life until perhaps summer of last year. Now I am going to graduate in 2 semesters. I won't have a 4.0, but those that have the superstar grades didn't go through what i went through. After that, I plan to get into medical school and become a doctor. That is really the only 'real' job that i have any passion for whatsoever. If someone wants to achieve something beyond where they are, they first must be able to visualize that reality. In this country, even many of the 'poor' people have a crapload of material possessions. Take me for instance, I make less than 15,000 dollars per year and have a one room apt, a car, an xbox 360, wifi, pay for everything myself, etc. But there comes a point where you have to be fed up with where you are. I think many of the people op is talking about haven't or cannot reach that point.

When I worked at a call center I saw this. We were making $9 an hour and I think $11 over time. I never did overtime. Anyways a few of the ladies I would talk to thought it was a career. They said they could see themselves working there for years and getting an apartment. I guess the call center environment felt homely?

Anyways I was thinking making $9/hour/40 hours a week is nothing. I asked her how would she pay her rent and bills then she told about me section 8 housing. I was like :wtf:. A lot of people waste their youth on frivolous things then take jobs that don't pay over $15. They settle in and see it as a pit stop. Most of the people at that call center weren't over 30. :mindblown: I left after a month lol.

Path of least resistance is attractive to some folks. I'm getting up there in age, and while I have no obligations like children, I don't want to be doing "nothing" anymore.

I just got into photography hard, and the hobby ain't cheap. Im fukking with T-shirt designs to start one of 3 businesses and that is gonna cost money. I need models
to wear the shyt, thats gonna cost (some) money.

Money isn't everything, but you really do live better with more than you need. I had thousands in my account and nothing to spend it on. That was the best feeling in the world.
If anything went wrong, I could handle that. If an impromptu hangout came up, I could afford to reasonably blow 2-3 hundo and not feel the sting. I'm done with mediocre.
Trying to get me a girlfriend with a body like

Im trying to travel. I wanna nest egg so when the economy dies on us again, I can scale back and make moves. Mediocre is boring and unfulfilling. Anyone who don't want the best..more
power to them.

Then keep your chin up and head down my dude. If you want a good life... This is where you buckle down and man up. No joke. Pay your dues. It'll be worth it in the long run. No joke.
