They never learned the proper technique, so they are scared...Also, NFL is more of a collision sport...

It's easy to see that Rugby Union players are better tacklers than NFL players and Rugby League players...I can't believe the blatant missed tackles I see on the open field in an NFL game...

It's pathetic..Instead of trying to collide with the opponent, wrap that dude up, and take him down...It's safer and more effective...

NFL would be a better sport if wrapping tackles were made mandatory...Players wouldn't need all that extra equipment...

NFL players are far faster and more athletic than rugby players. Rugby players can't tackle NFL players when the fastest rugby players run higher than 11 seconds 100m. NFL players have to react in an instant and oftentimes players aren't in a position to wrap up. They just have to make the tackle any way they can. A blitzing LB tried to wrap up Andrew Luck last week and Luck trucked him. On the other hand, if the LB had tackled right through Luck, it would have been a sack. Oftentimes when a defensive player tries to wrap up, he needs time to set himself and that little bit of time serves as enough warning to the offensive player, who then deploys any number of maneuvers: stiff arm, juke, truck, etc.

They want to dislodge the ball, tucking your arms in and launching the shoulder/helmet( :whoa: no fines Goodell) gives you the highest chance to succeed. Wide Receiver comes across the middle and you wrap him up, thats still a first down

they do wrap up, those who know the technique.

willis and bowman hit as hard as any LBs in the league yet most of the time they will cleanly wrap dudes up. they rarely miss a tackle because of that, and that works well with the bend, not break defense

you dont wrap him up and miss the big hit and it could be a TD if youre a safety.

tacklers who consistently wrap up >>>> inconsistent big-hitters

it depends on the situation. Open field guys with poor technique get exposed....but within 5-7 yards guys are taught to run through the ball carrier.

I agree, its not necessarily a smart strategy especially in the NFL where anything close is a flag now, targeting, defenseless receiver rules etc

Wrong

Bryan Habana 10.4
Tonderai Chavhanga 10.27
Takudzwa Ngwenya 10.5
Jonah Lomu 10.8
Doug Howlett 10.68
Joe Rokocoko 10.66

Christian Wade ran 11.14 when he was 17 hes 22 now, so he would probably go under 11secs now.

You forgettin one thing, the NFL players get regular rest breaks, so its easier for them to maintain higher energy levels, did you see the Redskins defenders gassing, when they had to play at a higher tempo to start off the game on the Eagles 1st drive the other night? :russ: Rugby players use to that shyt, NFL player arent.
