Why are relationships not valued in the Hip Hop/ Rap whereas in Country or Latino? They are?

It’s more of a finesse / “get over” on the person in rap, in R&B, the newer acts are starting to connect more which I’m glad to see. But in country they all look out for the younger acts and in Urbana Latino they all give up collaborations like nothing. Not sure why it can’t be like that for hip hop & rap.

Also there always seems to be a lack of communication with beef. Instead of making a phone call, they run to Twitter.

Because the characters that get promoted are the ones encouraging the most destructive impulses

Greed
Drug and alcohol addiction
Aggression and dominance over all

Its a uniquely American art form that reinforces the worst values present through American history. There are rappers who have depth, but they don't get put on.

You're addressing the rap game, the rap industry, not the art form or the culture it sprang from.

Before we had super aggressive, negative, capitalistic or junkie rappers, rap as an art form was STILL a contact, competitive sport.

Why don't you see covers, like legit covers of rap songs by other rappers? There is a reason that goes beyond the ills of the industry that has been built around rap (by people who are not from the culture I mind you)

I think this is a poor take on the situation. Relationships are equally valuable in Rap but as @SunZoo has stated Rap is competitive, it's about who's the most wittiest, the most clever, who has the best flow, and anyone and everyone can get it. It is born of the same culture that actively engages in friendly bouts of "roasting/shooting/bagging/playing the dozens" where no person or thing is off-limits. If you're an outsider, it looks like there is no relationship but inside the culture everyone is having fun and engaging in a verbal spar. You see the same thing in Reggaeton...because it's basically Puerto Ricans rapping over a Jamaican riddim they got from a Panamanian.
