This is spurned from the goofy ass Atlanta thread, but it's a common refrain I tend to see. Whether it's a black majority city, state or country, why are people so quick to call them backwards, shytholes or just diss them in general?

Detroit, Atlanta, New York, Mississippi, African countries period, and more get slandered on the daily and it's usually by folks who haven't even stepped foot in these places too.

Every one of them have rich histories and have birthed black icons, but folks always coming with some corny, outdated stereotypes.

I don't think ppl shyt on the rich histories... let's be honest...The actual city of Detroit is fukkin Garbage--Not the suburbs, Dearborn which isn't even blk, etc

It has bad areas and good areas, like any other city. The Downtown area is beautiful and I never had any problems when I visited down there. The crime is no joke, but folks act like the whole city is a war zone.

black people certainly aren't the majority in chicago (approx 1/3 blk/1/3 wht/1/3 hisp), but for where I live and move around on the daily it's overwhelmingly black. like over 95% in these parts.
