I think the more suburbanized you are the more whitewashed you tend to be.... :yeshrug:

Keep hearing that phrase knowledge of self and it applies here...

If your a black guy who grew up nestled in white suburbia, dated white girls and been around white people and then your thrown against a culture your family members came from it might be alien to you, because maybe you cant relate....

There are people who dont know how to be black... :mjlol: shyt is fukked up....

Like look at carlton on fresh prince... there was moments where he was so whitewashed he didn't even understand racism.... :snoop:

Their parents failed them, these generations of black suburbanite kids... they have no knowledge of self...
Why would you date white women because you was raised in the burbs?

Hiphop culture plays a HUGE role in this. Black people (specifically the young black male) are the most stereotyped group on planet Earth. Hiphop culture is largely responsible for the "box" that black people are in.

Every other group of people are free to be who they really are, but there's an unspoken pressure on the young black male to be "hard", "tough" and "extra masculine". To be "bout dat life". There's a pressure on the black male to possess a certain amount of "swag". To speak a certain way. To dress a certain way. Those who do NOT possess these stereotypes are regularly labeled as "lame", "less than black", or even "gay".

There's even pressure for some to suppress and hide their own intelligence to appear or to be seen as more "black" or "down". Yes, hip-hop culture has linked most things inferior with "blackness". You're a "real nikka" if you indulge in criminal/destructive activities. You're a "real nikka" if you've been in the white mans jail. You're a "real nikka" if you flood your own communities with drugs". Your a "real nikka" if you got 4-5 baby mamas.

Also, this mindset is an extension of the fact that slaves had to suppress their own intelligence as a survival tactic:

never understood this, to the point surburban is used against black people as if its an insult
"suburban" in the minds of most blacks is seen as a result of escaping from where they came from and therefore with the idea that they are somehow "better than" the one's didn't.

Either way, for poor blacks EVERYONE is the source of their frustration; "suburban blacks", whites (racist or liberal), non-whites, immigrants (legal and illegal), the legal system (cops, judges etc), the education system (i.e. schools, teachers, text books and the principles), "bias tests", banks and any thing else that pretty much think of that people collectively depend on in a civil society. Ask any poor black person anything about the aforementioned and you're likely to hear A LOT of blaming and A LOT of finger pointing.

They tend to have the most excuses and the poorest results to show for it (yeah...I said it).

"Suburban" in this day and age really doesn't mean what it meant 20-30 years ago anyway. Many of the poorest blacks in the inner city who haven't "made it", have simply been shuffled into the suburbs so that whites can take back the inner city.

Not all, but a large portion of suburban blacks who dont have knowledge of self tend to identify with their cac peers thinking economic status and a bougie attitude can make them better than "those blacks"
:mjpls:
This tends to show itself in many forms of c00nery & bedwenchery
:mjpls:
This will never work though, the cacs they try to impress never fully accepts them and the nikkas they've been throwing under the bus ain't dumb so this leaves them isolated.
:mjpls:
If you're a suburban breh/brehette just don't be one of those brand new, bougie, stuck up c00ns and there won't be any problems
:mjpls:
I disagree. More of us woke than hood nikkas unless you count the hoteps who just being ear hustling since they don't have many options

I would say that being a successful Blackman and presenting your true self is such a difficult thing, because you have to be many things to so many people. Take Warren Buffet for instance. Who you see him as is most likely who he is. Everyone he interacts with essentially get the same person. But now take a Jay Z. To the hood he has to be hood, to corporate America he has to be corporate, to middle America he has to have safe appeal. Always adapting to each environment.

That's thing thing about being successful and black in America, we have to transform to meet everyone's expectations constantly. Especially if the environment we came from is the hood. Like fukking chameleons and shyt. We have to be in so many different environments and need to always adapt to each one.

Drift to far in one way, like the claim made about suburban cats and you get labeled. Crazy when you think about it.
