Because I been in a good relationship for so long, women often come to me for dating advice. They're usually bw in their 30's who been playing themselves since their 20's, lots and lots of sob stories like the op. When I tell them how to do better with men, they don't want to listen. It's masochism but it's also not thinking you really can do better and not really wanting better because being with a good dude means you have you have to be a good woman. A lot of women enjoy dating losers because secretly they enjoy being the dominant "good person" in the relationship. Like you said they also get sympathy from others and get to talk endlessly about how they get done wrong and they deserve better without having to actively put in the work to be a better woman to attract those men or when they get that guy, live up to the expectations they set for others. A lot of women only want good men in theory and in reality aren't ready for one or really deserve one.
