hmm I can't say I listen to the the roots current music but I never pretended to like this song:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt9IP0t6ywc]The Roots - The Great Pretender [Illadelph Halflife] 1996 - YouTube[/ame]

I never felt obligated to listen to this:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t7rP0TK5WM"]The Roots - What They Do (with lyrics). - YouTube[/ame]

You inadvertently started an appreciation thread on the Roots, well done for someone who thinks they are :trash:

The only Roots song I like, and mean this literally, is "The Next Movement"...

Some dude once gave me a free The Roots album "Do you want more?"

I chucked it after 1 attempt to listen to it...

I think the Roots are good but overrated. Saw their live show and there were too many jam sessions for my taste and too many instances of the band trying to show off. When it comes to live hip hop bands, the groups behind both Public Enemy and Arrested Development blew the Roots out of the water IMO. Damien Marley's band playing behind Nas on the Rock the Bells tour offshoot was better too.
