Unless Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders (too old) somehow runs and wins it'll be more of the same. If any other democrat wins they will continue pretty much every existing policy and take no risks to get any progressive ideas implemented. And if a republican wins America will be a disaster compared to other developed countries.

Only problem with that is there are already a lot of centre-right democrats and no one in the Republican Party is anywhere close to left wing. So that wouldn't really be the middle party if they took from both.
