Is anyone out there? I wasn't just posting to post Is really like to have a conversation on the topic? How do you all feel about our incarceration rates? Speak on it.

Also, be sure to join the movement on Facebook and Twitter :

Incarceration Day | Facebook

Protest July 5th (ProtestJuly5th) on Twitter
I'm right here with ya bruh.

I don't know why nobody else is posting in this thread. I mean, nikkaz talk about the White man every 5 minutes and how racist this country is, but when you see a way to do something about it, nikkaz go silent.

As racist/classist as this incarceration nation is, this thread should be full

Black men in Amerikkka make up 8% of the world's prison population

That's fukking staggering.

America only makes up 3% of the world's population

I'm not going to fight for nikkas that smoke their crack, and brehs that move that dope.

Put down the pipe and/or stop pumping that heroin and you wouldn't fall victim to the game:manny:

Put good jobs in the hood and there wouldn't be any dope in the arms or crack in the pipes.

Put good schools in the hood so that nikkaz can get good jobs.

Prosecute White affluent people who make up the MAJORITY of heroin/crack/cocaine users the same way you prosecute Black ones and I bet you'll see the laws change.

ok Mr.Disinformation Agent..

i'll participate when thee embers have cooled off and i see Mad Max and Eli smobbin by..:pacspit::feedme:

I don't know what the hell you're talking about. At all.

Are you also out here talking to the ones on the corners?

I plan on engaging in traditional organizing, so yes.

What are we doin', beside internet posts?

Again, I'm organizing on a ground level as well. Social media and the internet are just tools to help this expand on a national level. I'm really glad somebody out there finally responded on this forum.

This is an extremely shallow way of thinking. First and foremost, whether or not you "pick up the pipe" or "pump heroin" shouldn't play any role in whether or not you're pursued and labeled a criminal. Had prohibition continued, then I could easily say the same about you (most likely) and the aggressive marketing we see nowadays to pick up the bottle. Second of all, studies show that blacks and whites use drugs on the same level roughly; despite the large difference in representation in our population, black and hispanics represent the majority of prosions. This is the result of blatant targeting, not personal choices. To support that notion is to support the systematic attack that has kept minorities down for the past 30 years.

Who is going to fill those jobs when police presence is pervasive and destroys the likelihood of any well paying job? You're making the point for me to some extent. On what grounds is the disparity in powder cocaine and crack-cocaine (for example) justified? They're chemically the same drug, the only difference is the populations that have traditionally used them. We've gone from 100:1 to 18:1 ratio in severity of punishment, but that's still ridiculous and unjustified.

Are you dead yet? 1 in 3 black men will face prison time at some point in your lifetime. If you're on a stable path, then be thankful for that, but don't mistake that as meaning your peers were somehow granted the same opportunity. Somebody else mentioned that America is only 3% of the world's population, yet 25% of the world's prison population... the percentage is actually about 5%, but the fact remains that no one on Earth locks up their civilians like we do. And we when we do, they strangely seem to be minorities. Something is seriously wrong here.

As long as you are down for real social movements, then I'm down.

Define "real"??? To my knowledge, I'm the only person out there trying to spark a mass demonstration. There's plenty of information out in the media and yet there's still NO action. Then when someone does, it's like, "Yeah, only if you're 'real' about it."-- Even if I wasn't, if YOU are real about it, then why/how am I stopping you??? This is most annoying thing I've encountered thus far. It's like Jr. High school dance, everyone is expecting everyone else to go out on the floor. It's never going to happen if people don't over their anxieties and join in.

Breh, I don't think you know who I am. You are talking out of your ass...I've been apart of a number of social activist demonstrations that have gotten real results and stopped the building of prisons in the state of Illinois; I've protested more than you could ever imagine and worked in the black communities that you and others are afraid to go into because I was born in them, so before you type out a long ass ridiculous, and pretentious post, you need to check my resume, read my posts, and then come at me like an adult and not some immature child.

I'm not sure where or how I was immature at any point in that post, but I'm really not concerned with validating your record. If you've made things happen in Illinois? Perfect, hopefully you can help build the movement here. If you're just a regular guy that's interested, then you're just as welcome and wanted. This isn't a contest to see who is more "real", it's an attempt to finally start confronting this issue on a national level.
