The lack of small room battles. So many classics took place in smaller venues makes crowd control a lot better. The abudince of chilling away rounds now days is outrageous. The lack of star power in the last few new classes is just sad. Prefect example Cortez and Dna where the whopping boys of early url days. I still wouldn't bet against them batting a newcomer. The hunger on the vets ain't there and I ain't surprised, but why these youngings ain't coming for the throne? Too many hit or miss battles nowdays the two on twos trash. Too much gimmicks now days not enough bars. Battle rap gets compared to wrestling a lot. The only comparison i got is the wwe after the attitude era that's where battle rap at in shambles
Battle rap hasn't gone to shyt imo, it's just now I am selective on what battles I will actually take time to watch vs few years ago I watched every battle.
But there are entirely too many leagues and it's nothing you can do about it. You can't expect a guy only getting money from battle rap to say no to a check.
Nothing you can do about large room battles because that is how leagues make money and how battle rappers actually make a living with this shyt. Otherwise it goes back to guys making 1k a battle and having to work regular jobs at kinkos.
There are up and coming stars, they have to get better at marketing themselves and more selective on their battles. But again how do you tell a guy to turn a check down?
This all comes down to the money. Battle rap is just not big enough to eliminate all the bs that makes it bad as people have to earn a living. So unless somebody starts paying people 100-200k for a few battles a year this is what it's going to be as a few thousand here and there you can't live off that.
I think what could off set the cost and eliminate trash leagues getting battles is sponsorships but with a sport like battle rap and all the language and disrespect it's going to be hard to find those kind of sponsors.
