Well it's not easy

Flight is long and expensive
Vaccines are expensive
Visas are expensive
Hotels are expensive
Safety issues

But it's worth every penny to me
BRUH........CUT IT. :pacspit:

I am east african......my country is located just by the horn of Africa. Last minute payment can run you $1500 round trip.
Two wk prior can run you $800.
Hotels are expensive? Why not use airbnb. With $500 you have paid for a whole month.
Safety? I got places in Nairobi safer than the streets of Baltimore and Philly.
Vaccine? What for?? Are you going for an Ebola research
Visa? $50 entry.

I think that you are oversimplifying it a little bit; especially for African Americans. Most AAs first trips to the continent would almost certainly be to Ghana; Senegal Or South Africa. I seem to recall that yellow fever vaccinations are a requirement to enter those countries and then healthcare providers in the USA strongly suggest that people get a bunch of other shots. It is not even really strongly suggest, it is actually more like highly advise; which most people would do because they have never stepped foot in the place that they intend to visit.

So the shyt can be expensive, but you are right about the Airbnb and that safety shyt is way overblown even right here in the USA.

Majority of Americans don't own a passport.

I assume that percentage is higher for AADOS who are economically stretched. there isn't that many AA's with the resources to travel to Africa.

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have some stats to back your statements up? Because AAs fly and take cruises all the time down into the Caribbean. I think before 2009 they didn't need a passport in many cases, but didn't they change the requirements?

Outside of what has already been said, there just isn’t that much interest. Too many Africa is still this inaccessible “savage” land. The countries themselves don’t do any great marketing.

Not to mention people vacation to see “greatness”.
