Dr evil wasn’t making trillions.

In real life they were “winning” must be something that made them drastically change their strategy :ohhh:
Your question I’m assuming is rhetorical because nobody is stupid enough to ask why a profitable publicly owned business would want to do something that would in theory lead them to be even more profitable.

That’s like asking since Xbox was already profitable so why bother bringing their games to PlayStation and Switch?

There’s an answer in there somewhere.

Some of you are avoiding that answer cause it will invalidate years of stan narratives

Yes the answer is they believed they could make even more money making live service games. That's obvious.

Your argument that a business should be simply content with "winning" in capitalism is stupid. Whatever money they make the shareholders want more. It will never be enough.

Sony didn’t wanna be the “bad guy”. Sometimes u gotta do what you gotta do. Especially in these situations where, you have old leadership no longer with the company that initiated projects that are still being worked on with totally new leadership.

Concord got the scrap but that game had to get all the way to release for them to realize. Look at Fairgames.. ok so Raymond is no longer at the company, but the game is still being worked on with new leadership. The studio is not known for any other games to fall back on. So if the game gets to playtest and its trash, Sony only have themselves to blame. And they’re still gonna get shytted on when they have to close the studio.

If Single player AAA games was driving their success. And they were the best at it. Why would they think they could make more money elsewhere?

It’s not like they just tried to add some GAAS games.

They drastically shifted their overall investment to GAAS games.

Seems like a stupid thing to do if their AAA single player gaming business was doing so well….no?

I didn’t make this argument :mjpls:

So shareholders aren’t content with winning the console war?

Crazy :wow:
