Just read about this execution where dude was sawed from leg to head :damn:

Stuff makes me think of how cruel it is to not have ability to turn off our pain receptors at will.

Of course, it's not smart to have it off ALL the time, as you need it to detect anything wrong with your body, but if you were getting burned alive, it'd so much easier to deal with without feeling it :merchant:

I'm reading this book called The Holographic Universe, and it gives documented examples of people who were/are able to do just that. All is in the mind, but we are so deeply programmed, that most of us can't control this lucid dream.

Our bodies go into shock when there isn't enough blood to circulate the whole body, we pass out.

Pain is a sensation our body sends to our brains to tell us everything is NOT OKAY. If we didn't have it we'd starve to death all nonchalant, or we'd freeze to death in really cold temperatures.
