Why did Microsoft name their music service "XBOX Music"?

Seriously, that's such a limiting name. What does XBOX(which ppl purchase for gaming) have to do w/ music?

I mean if it went no further than being an app on the XBOX console, fine. But this is included on PCs, laptops, Windows phones, and tablets of adults who have little clue what an XBOX is. My mom got a Windows phone a while back and I was setting it up for her and I'm looking at it like, 'why is XBOX music on here?' :what:

There's Spotify, Google Music, Beats Music. They all essentially have the same catalogue for the most part. But at least those names make sense and aren't limiting when talking about crossing device platforms.

Should have left it as Zune.
I agree, this was just a failed push by Microsoft trying to promote the xbox brand as something more than just gaming.

That clearly hasn't gone the way they hoped it would.

They wanted to make video content as well :wtf:

Just try to wrap your head around that now :mindblown:
