That was so random at the time.

"So stick to your Naughty By Natures and your Kanes
Cause graffiti that I based upon the wax is insane"

He got beat down for it, but it just seemed like weird people to call out on some rap shyt, considering both Treach and Kane were dope as fukk. I know Kane sold out by then, and Treach had commercial success but still

Well by 96 Naughty had won a Grammy and Kane had sold out so I guess they were just hatin on Naughty or they were seen as Selling out a bit. Feel Me Flow isn't as hard as their previous singles maybe De La looked at it as softening up to appeal to radio/industry people :yeshrug:

Ended up with Treach and his goons pulling Posdnuous off stage and beating him down :wow:

Vaguely remember the interview but Pos said this was a misunderstanding and he wasn't trying to diss. somethiing about how he was writing a rhyme using other rappers names and just flipping 'em like the whole verse was just a play on words but he ended up changing the concept and left that one part in. Don't know how believable it is but that was his take.

By this time Kane had done the Madonna stuff and lost a lot of credibility, he actually started making some really hard stuff around that time but the stigma stayed with him for years. Naughty had become a parody of themselves by then as well, they were using the same formula for all their albums and each single was getting more and more pop (looking back it wasn't a bad thing) but the mid 90's weren't kind to the old heads. Even De La caught it for Stakes is High itself, but we now know that's one of their best albums

It's funny you mention this.

A couple weeks ago I was listening to a Juan Epstein interview with Treach, he was saying he didn't really take it as a diss. He was a huge De La fan, so he was kinda like :wtf: when he heard the line.

His homies gassed him up like "nah, it's a diss!" so Treach went to the De La concert to talk (his words, not mine) to Pos, since it was his line.

When they got there, security wouldn't let them in the club, they were too deep. Later, they got in, and his goons snatched Pos off the stage and hit him a few times. Nothing too bad, according to Treach it was chaos, there was guys from his team hitting each other. :heh:

But it's not like Treach gave the word "let's go beat up De La". Later he ran into Maseo, who he was friends with, and they squashed it. Maseo did say the line was kinda :patrice:but Pos was like :yeshrug: because he didn't expect it to be taken the wrong way.

Again this is Treach, not my opinion.

Fred.

You gotta be one of the ABSOLUTE greats to get at Treach on some rap shyt... not some :flabbynsick: nikka tryin to advance :heh:
And then after you get at Treach, you gotta be from the most thoroughest hoods to not get hit wit the same jab that the :flabbynsick: nikka got. (dont even ask me how)

I was listening to Stakes Is High today, incredible album. I don't see how Pos could say that it wasn't a diss, it was clear as could be. Maseo was on the champs podcast recently and I think he said he tried to get Pos to change that line but he wouldn't. Pos was the mad rapper on that album, he even took shots at Pete Rock
