Long story short, they tried to pay Joe Smith under the table and got caught. So as a result they lost a bunch of 1st round picks

lmao @ giving that journeyman anything more than the veteran minimum at that point. what did they do?

Basically they convinced him to take a short, smaller deal with the promise of giving him a larger deal down the road.

The irony is that they released him after one season. So they ended up mortgaging their future for nothing

This is the reason why Stern hated the Wolves and whenever they were in the lottery they would never get the first pick. Adam Silver comes in and they get the number 1 pick. :sas2:

He was a good player at one point, he just had no potential. He was who he was :manny:

but the thing is he was drafted to us with the intention of changing the direction of the franchise, i remember those interviews on channel 36 about how he was going to bring a superstar dynamic to the warriors :sadcam:

Wow this Joe Smith is a fukking bum:russ:
You better watch your thotful mouth

Joe Smith was a two-time NCAA All-American, consensus #1 draft pick in 95, and had some good years in the beginning. Early on the convo was who was the best between him, Rasheed Wallace and Tim Duncan
