Why did Wrestlemania 19 buyrate tank?

Lesnar vs Angle for the WWE title
Rock vs Austin 3
Hoegan vs McMahon street fight retirement match
Hunter vs Booker T for the WHC title

Then HBK first Mania match in 5 years vs Y2J which was a smark dream match.


Was browsing some past PPV buyrates for WWE/Boxing and UFC and noticed this is the only Mania since 98 to not do 800k (not counting the move to the network) even the Invasion PPV from 01 did a bigger number. I wasn't following wrestling as much during this period but on paper that card looks pretty stacked .

Mania 18 did 880k and 20 did over a million but 19 does 550k what gives.

Yeah I ran it back a few years after I started following hardcore again and I thought the PPV was pretty good especially the featured matches. Only match that was bullshyt was the Hunter/Booker finish and even Hoegan/McMahon was good for what it was.

Taker must have been hot asscrumbs to be in a throwaway match with Big Slow and Albert was Albert supposed to be a big deal back then? That's a match I didn't bother watching when I watched that mania because the 3 names being mentioned made me


It's a damn shame they played Book for some jabroni having him take an L the way he did. Was doing some reading and apparently people say the plan was for HHH vs Austin or HHH vs Big Kev but stuff didn't go as planned with Nash injured and Goldberg signing on too late.

Yea I remember this. It's unfortunate because 19 is one of the greatest Mania's ever imo, and the best one in the last 20 years outside of X-Seven.

Ive never been so into a wrestling match idk if it was cause i couldnt see or my hogan stannery for him returning but i was on the edge of my bes biting my nails jumping up when hogan hulked up cause he was heel i wasnt expecting it

It was meant to be a tag match with Nathan Jones involved but he sucked so much they just made him do a run-in
