Why didn't Go-Go ever evolve past jam music?

I mean, "Da Butt" should have proven that Go Go with a basic song structure could be popular nationally.

It’s not incorporated that well into your commercial music as other regional sub-genres. Like New Orleans bounce for example; you had big names mixing it into their records and making it palatable for the people outside of the region. You gotta have producers pepper it into the big records which to my knowledge hasn’t happened…atleast successfully. This is also not necessarily a bad thing. Go-go is still controlled by black people which is more important than it being commercially successful

DC gov attributed gang violence to it and shut down most of the venues that helped people get paid to do it. unfortunately a lot of musicians in the scene were also involved in the street life and got hemmed up around the time that bounce beat started growing in the genre. DC gov really really did it an injustice.

Also 1 thing was a go-go song translated for the people. But gogo is also not just for listening tbh it is first and foremost a live music which is extremely difficult to commercialize, in the way most commercializations go, which is a good thing by the way, because if it was more popular we'd have k/j-go by now :mjpls:

Got my DC flight lined up for the winter. Mumbo sauce and a go-go club the first thing on the list.

GO Go is live music meant to be experienced in a live setting. If you've never been to a gogo then you've never expeirenced Gogo music. Plus the jams can last forever 10-20 minutes or more.
Could say the same thing about early hip-hop.

Are there recorded albums or just live recordings? What would you play someone to introduce them?
Both, the live versions are extremely hit or miss because they lack the crowd energy that is like another instrument.

Singles
Rare essence - overnight scenario
CCB - Wip wop (radio version thatis on YouTube not the 07 album)
CCB - Roll Call (from the 07 album)
CCB - Man I Miss My Dogs
Nexx Level Band - Miss Phat Booty Girl
CIB - Backseat Action
Reaction Band - Feels Good (from 11-9-07 @ Freakfest album)
XIB - Same Damn Time

Albums
Chuck brown - Go Go Swing (Live)
Backyard Band - Skillet
Nexx Level Band - u Got it black
Reaction Band - 8-24-07 @ Thai

Absolutely showing my age and preferred gogo style
