Why didn't Wilonnas character get the same criticism as JJs character on good times

Florida and James both left the show because they didn't like JJS image but they were fine with the way wilonna was portrayed?

A woman in her mid to late 40s who was still a care free serial dater that refused to act her age and joked around just as much as JJ if not more

Meanwhile JJ character got all the hate when he was only in high school being a goofball and still atleast always kept a job. Bruh even enlisted in the army to help his family

Cause Wilona was fine AF and saved Penny from an abusive mother and adopted her

Because she never became the focal point of the show. She had her own crib, a job and was Floridas best friend.

Because JJ became the star of the show...I don't know what went on behind the scenes but I imagine the scripts involved just putting in bullshyt jokes and JJ one liners instead of focusing on the serious,dramatic family stuff that John Amos wanted.
