I think my mom has that shytI was at wedding this past weekend and as the braids maids were walking past with their backs out, I notice a lot of the lightskin one had a lot of discoloration on their backs. What's up with that?

Could be sunburn, a small price to pay for having beautiful golden skin
As I've said many times before I work in skin care. What you are talking about is tinea versa color. Look it up in black ppl. It's easy to fix just see a dermatologist. If you can't there are numerous ways to treat it at home depending on how bad it is.
