Why do fans worry about players "retiring" at the right time?

"Broduer should retire as a devil"

"Duncan should go out on top"

"Favre is ruining his legacy"

Man shut the fukk up.. this isn't your personal story book.. As long as these men want to work and someone wants to employ them you shouldn't say shyt

You aren't wrong, but seeing a great player washed up, like joe Namath with the rams, AI in Memphis, Wade recently, Patrick in Orlando or Hakeem in Toronto is just sad. Think about Shaq in Boston as a great example.

Not sad for me. I see a legend going to work and giving it his all.. he's supposed to go fishing because he's not the same guy he was at 25? Ridiculous

If I get to make $10-12 million like Favre did or Duncan has a chance to next year with another shot at a ring, I'm doing it :manny: especially if I know I'm still able to ball and help my squad

The same reason fans attack perceived threats to their favorite players. A lot of fans by into guys' "legacies" as if it affects them in some way. That said why would you want to see a legend play like a shell of himself though? I get why they would keep playing and getting the money but there is no benefit from a fans perspective.

My favorite was back in 2004 when Ricky Williams abruptly retired and all these fans with their ultra fake outrage talking about: "he's quitting on his teammates / he's squandering his talents! What a horrible human! :pacspit:"

I don't understand how fans who only know these players on nothing but a superficial level, can think they know a guy's story enough to make judgments and criticize his decision on when to walk away from the game. :belifam:

It's not your body being used up, wtf you beefing about?
