forget about game consoles, are games really worth $50-70

Video games are not worth $50 to 70 in my opinion, but I'm not a hardcore gamer like most here. I'm usually a year or two behind on games because I'll sometimes go 2 or 3 weeks without picking up the controller. I usually end up paying $20 to $30 for the games I want which seems about right to me.

I am surprised inflation hasn't put games over $100 though. I can see them being able to get away with it with the hardcores.

TYRONE GA!
Yes, 100%. Games have pretty much been the same price for 20+ years. With inflation, etc., they probably should go for $100 a game, if not more.

SF2 on the SNES would be 160 plus dollars today. Mufukkaz need to stop cryin

And man im sorry , im one the oldest posters here i dont recall $80 and $90 games with exception of a few. That higher priced games is highly exaggerated here

Funco land, toys r us all that shyt was still $60

Maybe like gold cartridge zelda or something was more... but most I remember paying for a game was $75 for Hexen..

I had NES, SNES, N64, GameCube and OG xbox...

They might of been advertised as $80-90 but between Circuit City, Radioshack, K Mart, Sears (remember Sears used to be heavy into gaming consoles), Toys R Us, Funcoland, etc they would have weekly ads in news papers for discounted new games

Phantasy Star, Virtua Racer were $99 at launch. Final Fantasy 3 and Super Street Fighter 2 we’re both $74.99. Ebgames started getting competitive around this time and prices started getting down to the 49/59 range until everything changed with the psone.

Most I paid for a game was $325 for KOF 98 for NEO-GEO

This is what I remember but then again my dad would only cop games from kmart, Wal-Mart, and video store during the sega-SNES era.
