:jbhmm:Something isnt adding up. And im not shytting on them. I was at a public school in state for my first 2 years then finished my last 2 at an hbcu. But why is the cost of attendance 40k a year?

The cost to go here will have people crippled financially for years after they graduate. Add in the fact most people aren't financially literate, it even worsens the situation.

I brought up the idea of people possible choosing to go to a majority black public school and people go "Oh you dont support HBCU's now?:usure:"

Got (some) people more worried about fcking bytches and pledging than thinking how they're going to be bringing in some income for the next 20 years, or paying off loans.

People moving from halfway across the country to come here, which is cool, but paying the full price just to say "Im an alum of ___":mindblown:It boggles my mind can someone explain this to me.

They are actually less in most cases if you can stay in state. Out of State tuition can be high though. Hampton, Howard, Morehouse and Spellman are the most expensive.
Morehouse and Spelman are private, like Tuskegee. Thats why the prices are astronomical.

State HBCU's like NCAT, Alabama state, FAMU are reasonably priced

Yep..

If you're an in state resident you can go to an HBCU in North Carolina and Virginia for under 10k a year.

Yep. I graduated from A&T back in 2008 and the tuition (in-state) was less than $2,000 a semester (not including housing, etc). I can't imagine it's gone up that much since.

Majority of HBCUs are struggling from mismanagement of funds and they receive less donation money from alumni and other organizations. Also I believe many HBCUs credit ratings aren't that good as well so this hurts them tremendously.

Private school is expensive, HBCU or not.
Average private school tuition is 32k a year for the US as a whole.
Go to a public HBCU and it'll be 1/4 of that.

We are changing that in the coming years...

The threat of a Trump win is already sparking a renaissance. Which is one of the reasons I don't see his presidency as such a bad thing in the long term.
